San Diego Hepatitis A Outbreak
Posted By on September 12, 2017
We’d like to make you aware of a Hepatitis A outbreak that is going around downtown. The outbreak has resulted in 15 deaths and 279 hospitalizations. The majority of those affected were homeless persons. To address this, the County Health Department is spraying the sidewalks with a bio hazard cleaner to help mitigate the spread of the infection.
Our housekeeping team is aware of the situation and is spending extra time wiping down door handles, bathrooms, elevator buttons, and the gym equipment to help prevent the spread of any germs within the building.
Additionally, we now have hand sanitizer at both entrances of the Fitness Center and we ask that you sanitize your hands when you enter and before leaving to help prevent the spreading of any germs within the facility. With the winter months upon us, we’d like to prevent any unnecessary spread of germs.
For more information on the Hep A outbreak, please visit the County Health Department’s website at http://www.sandiegocounty.gov/content/sdc/hhsa/programs/phs/community_epidemiology/dc/Hepatitis_A.html
