Welcome to Park Laurel

Water Detection System

We are pleased to announce that the Fourth Amendment to the CC&Rs has passed membership approval. This amendment gives the Association the authority to maintain a water/leak detection system in all of the units.

The installation of this system will take place in Q1 2020.

November 1st Community Updates

Dear Resident,

Happy November to you! A few updates below that you may be interested in.

Daylight savings time ends this Sunday, November 3rd at 2:00 am. Before going to bed on Saturday night, be sure to set your clocks back by one hour.

This Sunday, November 3rd, the Susan G. Komen ‘Race for the Cure’ will be taking place in Balboa Park and around our community.

Sixth Avenue, from Ivy up to Upas, will be closed between 7:00 am and 10:00 am.

There will be no parking on Sixth Avenue starting at 4:00 am.

If you need to drive out of Park Laurel before 10:00 am on Sunday, we’d recommend parking in the commercial garage Saturday night so that you can exit westbound on Laurel.

Elevator Modernization

We are getting closer to having the service elevators back in-service.

The State has given us an inspection date of November 13th, which means if everything passes, the service elevators will be turned back over to us on Friday, November 15th.

This would push the start date of the next set of elevators, 01/02 and 05/08 stacks, to Monday, November 18th.

New wiring on the top of the service cab.

Candidate Night for Board Election

This year, we have three candidates running for two open seats on the Board of Directors. The known candidates are Charlie O’Malley (incumbent), Chris Duke (incumbent), and Bill Pope.

The Candidate Forum will be this upcoming Monday, November 4th, at 5:00 pm in the North Tower Lobby. You are invited to come and hear what the candidates have to say and ask any questions before you cast your votes.

The Annual Meeting and date which ballots will be tallied is Thursday, November 21st at 5:30 PM.

We appreciate you taking the time to vote.

Fourth Amendment – Leak Detection System

The Fourth Amendment to the CC&Rs, which addresses a community-wide leak detection system has passed.

The next steps are having the amendment recorded with the County and working out agreements with the leak detection company.

In January, we will have the network for the system installed in every service hallway and have power outlets run-up to the ceiling for the automatic shutoff valves.

We estimate installing all devices by February/March of next year.

Thanks again for your approval of this system. It is going to

Community Updates

Dear Resident,

We came across an old photo of Park Laurel, with the North Tower undergoing construction while the bank was still at the corner of Sixth and Laurel.

There are some updates and important information that you may be interested in below.

Proposed Common Area Enhancements

At the open session meeting this week, the Board reviewed the survey results, emails, and verbal feedback from the Community. You have been heard loud and clear.

A very strong percentage of the Community was not interested in the proposed changes and the feedback we received indicated that the residents like the physical elements of the lobby the way that they are.

The Board closed the file on the changes proposed by the Architectural Review Committee at Tuesday’s meeting.

Thank you for your input. We greatly appreciate it.

Leak Detection System

At the meeting on Tuesday, the ballot inspectors opened and tabulated the ballots for the leak detection system. The amendment and expense measures were approved by the community.

The leak detection system will likely be installed by March of 2020, which gives us time to officially record the amendment, and have electricity and the system’s network installed on every floor.

Again, we appreciate your time and consideration for this project, which will hopefully save a lot of money and inconvenience for you in the future.

Annual Meeting

The ballots for the Association’s annual meeting and election are on their way to you in the mail.

The Annual Meeting will be Thursday, November 21st with registration opening at 5:00 pm.

The Association will have a candidate forum on Monday, November 4th at 5:00 pm in the North Tower lobby. This will give you an opportunity to hear from the three candidates that are running for two seats.

Holiday Party – Save the Date

The Social Committee has another wonderful holiday party planned for the Community. You will receive a formal invitation from the Committee, but we thought you may want to save the date now. The party will be on Thursday, December 5th at 6:00 pm in the South Tower lobby.

Elevator Update

We are less than a month away from the service elevators being turned over. That date is estimated to be Monday, November 11th.

The State’s inspections are scheduled for the week prior, and barring any unforeseen circumstances, we will have those
